When I first met jake Johnson about 5 years ago, he was wandering the woods of West Virginia, mumbling about Morton subotnick with some crazy synth in hand, whacked out on who knows what. Right then, I knew we would be buds for life. At first I thought of him as my protégée that I had discovered, but within 2 seconds of hearing his jams he pulled a hard DARTH VADER and was like "NOW I AM THE MASTER" and struck me down in the Bonnie's parking lot! A true old soul, Jj channels the best of Columbia 60s era electronic musicians to create something truly different then what most are doing with synthesizers and drum machines nowadays. Refreshing and new but with a tip of the hat to the old guard. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Jj is one of the best jammers I know and people NEED to scope his work.
